Research

Her current research focuses on the longue durée environmental history of coastal West Africa, specifically port cities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.  Her dissertation project focuses on economic & environmental history of the port city of Warri and traces successive waves of capitalist accumulation. From the slave trade between the fifteenth and eighteenth century, the palm oil economy of the nineteenth and early twentieth century to oil and gas from the mid twentieth century.
